The Orea V4, released in 2023, splits the V3 concept into two drippers with different drainage patterns: Narrow and Wide. The V4 Narrow is the one for brewers who found the V3 too fast or too bypass-prone and want more extraction time without changing grinders or technique.
The narrow base restricts flow, forces water to travel through the bed rather than around it, and extends the total brew time by 20 to 40 seconds compared with a V3 at the same grind. The cup is rounder, sweeter, and higher in extraction — closer to a Wave than to a V60 in profile, with less clarity in the top notes than the original V3 delivered.
A starting recipe: 15 g of coffee to 250 g of water (1:16), a grind slightly coarser than your V3 setting, water at 94 °C, four pours in 3:00 to 3:45. Like every Orea, it uses standard 185 Wave filters. The V4 Narrow is the dripper to pick when you want a flat-bottom cup that leans sweet and body-forward rather than bright and articulate.
