Community rules

The Gota community is a place to ask about and talk about filter coffee: brewers, recipes, grinding, water and beans. You write in your language and are read in all six languages Gota speaks. These rules explain what belongs here, how we moderate and what you can do if you disagree with a decision. By posting, you accept them.

1. What belongs here

  • Questions and conversations about coffee and brewing it, including gear, roasters, cafés and coffee travel.
  • Criticism of products, recipes or Gota, as long as it is about the thing, not the people.
  • Links when they help answer, not to promote.

2. What does not

  • Spam and advertising: promoting products, shops or channels that are not part of the conversation, affiliate links or any kind of deception.
  • Disrespect: insults, harassment, threats, hate speech or sexual content.
  • Other people's personal data: phone numbers, addresses, emails, documents or private details about someone.
  • Illegal content or content that infringes other people's rights, such as copying someone else's text or photos without permission.
  • Anything that has nothing to do with coffee.
  • Impersonating someone else or the Gota team.

3. Accounts

To write, you sign in with your email: we send you a link, no password. Others see your display name and, only if you choose, your country. You must be at least 16. You can delete your account at any time from your account page and, if you ask, everything you have written too.

4. Automatic translation

Every post is translated automatically into the other five languages so everyone can read it. The translation is made by an artificial intelligence system, is labelled as such, and the original is always one tap away. If a translation does not say what you meant, the original is what counts.

5. Gota (AI)

Every new question gets a first answer from an artificial intelligence assistant that appears as "Gota" with an "AI" label. It is not a person and always says so. It can be wrong: the question stays open for people to answer. We never use made-up profiles that pass for members.

6. How we moderate

  • Before publishing: an automatic system checks every post against these rules. If it fits, it is published at once; if it clearly does not, it is turned down and we tell you which rule it breaks; if the system is unsure, a person from the team reviews it before it is published.
  • After publishing: anyone can report a post. When several people report the same one, it is hidden until a person from the team reviews it.
  • Final decisions on reported or hidden posts are made by a person, not by the automatic system.
  • If we remove something of yours, we write to tell you what we decided, on which rule and how it was decided. If someone breaks the rules seriously or repeatedly, we may suspend their account.

7. Reporting

Every post has a "Report" button. You do not need an account: if you do not have one, leave your email so we can tell you what we decided. If you report content as illegal, give your name, explain why you believe it is, and confirm that you report it in good faith. We will confirm we received it and write to you with the decision.

8. If you disagree

If you think we were wrong to remove something of yours, or to keep something you reported, reply to the decision email or write to hello@utropia.es explaining why. A different person will review it where possible. You can always go to the courts as well.

9. What you post

What you write stays yours. By posting it you give us a free, worldwide permission to show it on Gota, translate it into its languages and display it on the website and in the app while it stays published. You are responsible for what you post.

10. Contact

For anything about the community, including requests from authorities, the point of contact is hello@utropia.es, in English or Spanish. Who runs the service and the rest of the conditions are in the terms of use, and how we handle your data in the privacy policy.
