UFO Dripper

Open 80° cone with conical clarity and flat-bed forgiveness

The UFO Dripper, released by Korean brand UFO Coffee Tools and co-designed by Jay Kim and Kenzie Chay, is a conical brewer built around a single contrarian idea: open up the cone angle from V60's 60° to 80°, so the bed is shallower, the flow slows naturally, and dose changes barely shift bed depth. The result is a conical that delivers the clarity and acidity of a V60 with the dose tolerance and repeatability normally associated with flat-bottom brewers.

Construction details follow the same philosophy. Instead of protruding ribs, the inner wall has recessed air channels that seat the UFO's own filters cleanly with help from a Disperser tool. The lineup spans Tritan (V3, single-piece injection-moulded) and ceramic, with proprietary papers in two flow speeds — Type A (medium-flow, the brand baseline) and Type F (fast, designed for V3) — plus a Sibarist FAST UFO special edition. Wataru Iidaka took it to second place at the 2024 World Brewers Cup in Chicago, John Dixon ran it at USBrC Nationals 2024, and Pack Katisomaskul placed third at USBrC 2024 with it — three of the largest competition showings on the dripper's first year out.

A starting recipe: 15 g of coffee to 250 g of water (1:16.67), water at 92 °C, finer-end-of-medium grind, three slow 50 g pours at low spout height followed by a 100 g high-agitation finisher split between a circle pour and a center pour. Drawdown completes between 3:00 and 3:30. The UFO is the dripper for someone who wants conical clarity without the V60's narrow margin for error — and the only conical with a real competition lineage built on dose forgiveness.
