    Add cold water and coffee with cardamom to ibrik. Place on low heat.

    Watch for foam to rise. Do not stir.

    Remove from heat when foam rises to the rim.

    Let foam settle. Return to low heat briefly.

    Pour carefully. Serve in small cups.

Notes

Add 1-2 crushed cardamom pods to the coffee grounds before brewing. The cardamom adds a warm, aromatic flavor. This is traditional in many Middle Eastern coffee cultures. Some prefer green cardamom for brighter notes.
