The Hario Switch 03 is the larger sibling of the Switch 02, built around the same immersion-or-percolation valve concept but sized for batches up to 700 ml of brewed coffee. Dose ranges between 30 and 45 g of dry coffee — enough for two or three drinkers from a single brew.
Scaling up the Switch is less complicated than scaling up a pure V60 because the immersion phase averages out bed unevenness before drawdown begins. Close the valve, pour the full water dose, wait until the last dry grounds have absorbed (around 60 seconds), optionally stir once, then hold the immersion for another 60 to 90 seconds before opening the valve.
A baseline recipe: 35 g of coffee to 550 g of water (1:16), medium grind, water at 94 °C, full immersion for 2:30, drawdown in 1:30 to 2:00. Uses standard V60 03 paper filters. The Switch 03 is the size to pick if you regularly brew for two, want immersion consistency without buying a French press, or want a single brewer that can shift between a solo morning cup and a shared pot at weekends.
