    Add 20g water. Press the filter screen down gently.

    Pour

    Pour remaining 140g water. Place lid on.

    Let coffee drip through slowly. 4-5 minutes total.

    Remove phin. Stir and serve.

Notes

Vietnamese black coffee is brewed strong with a phin filter. Use a dark roast for traditional flavor. The slow drip through the phin takes 4-5 minutes. Serve over ice as ca phe den da, or hot.
