Switch Dark Roast

by Hario

Hario Switch recipe optimized for dark roast coffees. Lower temperature and coarser grind prevent bitter, ashy extraction. The immersion phase creates a full-bodied cup without harshness.

Notes

Dark roasts are already highly soluble and extract quickly. Lower temperature (85°C) and coarser grind prevent over-extraction of bitter compounds. The immersion phase gives a full-bodied cup that dark roast lovers enjoy, but the paper filter keeps it clean. Short steep time prevents bitterness.
