The Hario Alpha 01 is a one-to-two-cup, 60-degree cone developed by Hario Taiwan. It keeps the V60's single large outlet but replaces raised spiral ribs with concave channels that hold the paper closer to the wall. Hario's stated aim is smooth, clog-resistant extraction with more consistent contact between the filter and the dripper.
Twelve upper channels branch into 24 paths lower in the cone before returning to 12 exits near the outlet. Those connected paths give air and liquid a controlled route out while reducing the unpredictable gaps that can form around a standard V60's ribs. The result is a fast-draining brewer that can tolerate a finer grind, but its different paper contact means a V60 drawdown target should not be copied unchanged.
The Alpha accepts Hario V60-01 paper and is sold in PCT resin, marketed as Tritan in some regions, and ceramic versions. Hario lists it for one to two cups and states that it is not compatible with the Switch base. In Lance Hedrick's comparison it produced the clearest, most floral and acidity-led cup of the three new Hario drippers; that is a reviewer result rather than a manufacturer specification, so use a V60-01 recipe only as a starting point and dial in by taste.
