The Gota app

Comparison

Coffee brewing apps, side by side

We make Gota, so read this knowing that. Everything below about the other apps comes from their own App Store listings, websites and code repositories, checked on 18 October 2026, and we say where each of them does something better than we do.

Where each one is strongest

  • Filtru connects to more scales than any other app here, brews espresso too, and has nine years of refinement and the most ratings in the App Store.
  • Timer.Coffee is free from top to bottom, open source, and on iPhone, Android and the web, in 22 languages.
  • Beanconqueror talks to the most devices — scales, pressure sensors, refractometers — and tracks roasting and water as well; free and open source.
  • Aeromatic goes deepest on one brewer: AeroPress, with a video for each recipe.
  • Brew Timer is a one-time purchase, with no subscription.
  • Pour-Over Coffee Recipes Timer is simple and inexpensive, with beginner-friendly recipes.
  • Gota has the largest library with every recipe credited to its author, is the only one here whose listing offers voice commands, shows every recipe in your own grinder's setting and films your brew into a finished video with Live Brew.

Where Gota falls short

Gota is iPhone-only for now. It connects to fewer scale brands than Filtru or Beanconqueror, it doesn't brew espresso, it isn't open source, and it is the newest app here, launched in April 2026. If any of those matters most to you, one of the others may suit you better.
