Closed Bloom

by brewnotes.co

A closed-valve immersion bloom on the Switch — the mirror of brewnotes.co's Open Bloom. The grounds steep for 45 seconds before the valve opens, then two percolation pours finish a sweet, balanced 1:15 cup.

Notes

Start with the valve CLOSED so the 50g bloom steeps in full immersion for 45 seconds. Open the valve at 0:45, then pour in two stages, letting it percolate through. The closed bloom adds immersion extraction up front; the open pours keep the finish clean. Medium grind at 92°C. Aim to finish the drawdown around 2:15. If the drawdown stalls after opening, coarsen one click.
