The 01 is the one-to-two-cup version of Hario's V60 NEO, the cone unveiled at SCAJ 2025 twenty years after the original V60. It carries the same geometry as its larger sibling: 72 ultra-fine ribs down the upper wall to guide water evenly, plus nine converging ribs at the base that speed the brew through the outlet. Molded in lightweight, high-clarity Tritan resin, it holds heat well and resists clogging.
Two effects compound at this size. The NEO already drains faster than a classic V60, and a single-cup bed is shallow to begin with — so the 01 leaves you less contact time than almost any other cone in the range. Grinding a notch or two finer than your V60 01 setting is usually the first correction: the dripper tends to drain before a fine bed can stall.
It takes standard V60 01 paper or Hario's higher-flow Meteor paper. A reasonable starting point is 12 to 15 g of coffee at a 1:15 to 1:16 ratio, water around 92 °C, medium-fine, finishing between 2:00 and 2:30. Light and medium roasts suit it best; for darker roasts go coarser and a few degrees cooler.
