    A reusable metal mesh filter placed in the AeroPress cap, often stacked over a paper filter, to let more oils through for added body. Common models: Able Disk, Fellow, or the Sowden Softbrew micro-mesh pre-filter.

    Inverted: add coffee, then pour 100g of 94°C water.

  2. Stir 2 / 8

    Stir for 15 seconds.

    Turbulent wiggle for 10 seconds.

    Cap with the rinsed paper-plus-metal filter and let it sit until 1:15.

    Pre-fill the carafe with 110g of 94°C water — the concentrate will press onto it.

    Flip onto the carafe.

    Press for 30 seconds using elbow pressure.

    Serve.

Notes

Cap with one paper filter and one metal filter, both rinsed. Pre-warm the carafe with 110g of 94°C water; the elbow-pressure press lands the concentrate into that warm bypass.
