Acaia
Acaia Pearl
Acaia's pour-over scale: a 16 cm platform with room for a dripper and a server, 2 kg and 0.1 g. Both the original Pearl and the Pearl 2021 connect to Gota over Bluetooth.
What Gota does with your Acaia Pearl
-
Live pour rate
Gota works out how fast you're pouring from the weight, in grams per second, and tells you whether you're on pace for the recipe — even if your scale doesn't show flow itself.
-
A cue at the target
A sound and a tap just before each pour reaches its weight, so you can watch the coffee instead of the display.
-
Pours that end by weight
With the scale connected, each pour closes on its own once the target weight settles. You can still tap Done.
-
Your brew, measured
The coffee and water the scale weighed, and the curve of each pour against the recipe's plan, stay in your brew history.

Pearl or Pearl 2021?
Same footprint, 160 × 160 mm and 32 mm tall, and the same 2 kg capacity. Acaia says the Pearl 2021 starts up and responds about 40% faster. It also shows 0.1 g in Dual Display, where the original rounds to the gram, and adds a flow-rate bar, a pour-over mode that starts the timer when water hits the scale, four brightness levels and USB-C charging (the original uses micro-USB).
By default both read 0.1 g up to 1 kg and 0.5 g above it; the High resolution setting keeps 0.1 g all the way to 2 kg. Gota works with both, and reads which generation it is from the scale itself when it connects.
Which mode to use with Gota
Gota only needs the weight: it runs the recipe's clock and works out your pour rate itself. Weighing Only is the plainest mode to brew in. The Pearl 2021 also has Dual Display, Pour Over Auto-Start Timer, Portafilter and Beverage; out of the box, only Weighing Only and Dual Display are switched on.
Pearl, Pearl S or Lunar?
The Pearl is Acaia's straightforward pour-over scale. The Pearl S is the same size with 3 kg of capacity, a bigger battery and flow rate as a number on its own display. The Lunar is the small, water-resistant one built for espresso: see the Lunar and the Pearl side by side.
Battery and water
Acaia rates the Pearl 2021 at 30 to 40 hours per charge and the original at about 25. Neither is waterproof: the flat top lets a spill run off the sides, but keep it away from the tap.
Pair it with Gota
-
1
Turn the scale on and keep it near your iPhone.
-
2
In Gota, open Settings → Scale and choose Acaia, then Pearl.
-
3
Tap your scale when it appears. From then on it connects by itself whenever you open a recipe to brew.
- A scale talks to one app at a time: close any other app connected to it so Gota can connect.
