The Pearl Model S is Acaia's 3 kg pour-over scale, with flow rate on its own display and guided brewing built in. The 2019 model and the Pearl S 2022 both connect to Gota over Bluetooth.

Live pour rate
Gota works out how fast you're pouring from the weight, in grams per second, and tells you whether you're on pace for the recipe — even if your scale doesn't show flow itself.

A sound and a tap just before each pour reaches its weight, so you can watch the coffee instead of the display.

Pours that end by weight
With the scale connected, each pour closes on its own once the target weight settles. You can still tap Done.

Pearl S or Pearl S 2022?
Same body, 160 × 160 × 32 mm and about 620 g, the same 3 kg capacity and the same 2200 mAh battery. The 2022 moves to USB-C (the 2019 model uses micro-USB) and Bluetooth 5.0, makes Brewguide a regular mode, and adds a countdown timer and optional sound or voice announcements every 10 seconds and every 20 grams.
What it adds over the Pearl
An extra kilo of capacity, a dot-matrix display, a larger battery (Acaia rates it at up to 16 hours at normal brightness and up to 40 at low) and flow rate as a number in its Flowrate and Flowrate Practice modes. By default it reads 0.1 g below 1.5 kg and 0.5 g above; the High setting keeps 0.1 g throughout.
Which mode to use with Gota
Gota only needs the weight: it runs the recipe's clock and works out your pour rate itself. Weighing Only is the plainest mode to brew in. Brewguide and the countdown are the scale's own way of guiding a brew; with the recipe running in Gota you would have two guides at once, so it's simpler to leave them off. The same goes for the 2022's announcements, which can talk over Gota's cues.
Not water-resistant
Acaia says the Pearl S is neither waterproof nor water-resistant. Wipe spills straight away and keep it away from the tap. If your bar gets wet, the Lunar is Acaia's water-resistant scale.
