OXO is a US kitchen-tools brand. Their coffee line includes electric drip machines, cold-brew makers, and a manual immersion brewer — the OXO Brew Rapid Brewer — that has become a quiet favourite for brewing concentrated filter without an espresso machine.
How the OXO brews
The Rapid Brewer is a manual immersion-percolation hybrid: coffee sits in a basket below a built-in shower screen; you pour water on top, the screen disperses the stream evenly across the bed, and a plunger pushes the brew through paper into a decanter below. The shower screen is the key design feature — it prevents the kettle stream from disturbing the puck, which is the hardest problem to solve when brewing low ratios on simpler immersion devices.

What OXO recipes in this collection share
OXO recipes lean into the brewer's strength: low ratios with a shower-screen-protected puck, slowly pressed through to extract a concentrated yield. Typical parameter ranges:
- Ratio: 1:3 (concentrated "Zuppa") to 1:10 (diluted "Zuppa Lunga")
- Water temperature: 95 to 99 °C
- Grind: medium to medium-coarse
- Total brew time: 1:00 to 2:00
Choose the OXO when you want espresso-style concentrated brews without an espresso machine, or when you find the AeroPress too small or too prone to spilling for low-ratio brewing.
