Fellow is a San Francisco–based specialty coffee equipment brand. The Stagg dripper line is their pour-over offering: a truncated conical dripper with a flat bottom and three large exit slots, available in steel or ceramic. The dripper has interior ratio markings etched into the wall to help with pouring by volume rather than weight.
How the Fellow Stagg brews
The Stagg sits between a Kalita and a V60 in behaviour. It has a flat bottom (Kalita-like forgiveness) but three large drainage slots instead of small holes, which let it drain much faster than a Kalita. The result is a brewer that accepts a wide range of grind sizes and pour patterns without stalling, while still giving respectable clarity thanks to a vertical-wall design that minimises filter sag.
Fellow sells proprietary paper filters for the Stagg (flat-bottom with wave ridges). The Stagg XF accepts Kalita Wave 155 filters as an alternative.
Models in this family
- Fellow Stagg X — steel-bodied dripper in one size. 15-25 g dose.
- Fellow Stagg XF — same body as the X but accepts Kalita Wave 155 filters for wider filter availability.
Both use the same geometry; the choice is about filter ecosystem and look.
What Fellow Stagg recipes in this collection share
Stagg recipes tend to be simple V60-like or Kalita-like recipes adapted to the faster drawdown. Typical parameter ranges:
- Ratio: 1:15 to 1:17
- Water temperature: 92 to 96 °C
- Grind: medium-fine to medium
- Total brew time: 3:00 to 4:00
Choose a Stagg when you value build quality and design aesthetic, when you want a pour-over with fast drainage and forgiving technique, or when you're already in the Fellow equipment ecosystem (EKG kettle, Opus grinder).
