How it brews
Hario's Woodneck uses a reusable cotton-flannel cloth cone instead of paper, sold as replacement filters DFN-1 (240 ml Woodneck) and DFN-3 (480 ml). Because it's cloth, you rinse and re-use it rather than discard it, and store it wet (many keep it in the fridge in water) so it doesn't dry stiff or go stale. Cloth lets more of the coffee's oils and some very fine particles through than paper does, which is why nel drip has a reputation for a soft, heavy, syrupy body — the specific cup is a tendency, not a guarantee, and depends heavily on how clean the cloth is kept. Material is left off the fiber facet because cotton flannel is outside the paper-fiber vocabulary.
